George Louis Weinfurtner, age 70, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Weinfurtner was born November 1, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska, a son of the late Martin Louis and Jeanette Robinson Weinfurtner.
Mr. Weinfurtner was reared and recieved his education in Omaha, graduating from Boys Town. Upon graduation, he joined the U S. Army and served for twenty-two years retiring as Sergeant First Class. He also served in Viet Nam.
He was a 1989 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a degree in Business.
Mr. Weinfurtner was a Catholic by faith. He was a volunteer with the Red Cross and had worked as a Greeter at Wal Mart. He had also worked as a clerk in the Medical Records Department of the Arkansas Prison System. He had played Santa Claus on numerous occasions for private parties and had flipped the switch to light the Land of Lights and Legends at Pine Bluff Regional Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann Bigalk Weinfurtner, whom he married July 1, 1962.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Eugene Weinfurtner and wife, Wonica, of Tucson, Arizona, Karl Robert Weinfurtner of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Tina Marie Harmon and husband, James, of Star City and Annette Louise Perusich and husband, Gregory, of Pine Bluff; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several brothers and sisters including Jeanette Winters and husband, Lillard.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Thursday, February 4, 2010, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Mike Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson's Wednesday evening fron 6 to 8 PM.
